Return to SLC with the full NSFW trailer for Punk’s Dead

When I worked at Blockbuster Video (man, that makes me sound old), there were always certain movies constantly checked out or with a waiting list. THE BOONDOCK SAINTS was one and SLC PUNK! was another. I never quite got all of the love for SLC PUNK! but I know there is a rabid fan-base that has been clamoring for the long in development sequel PUNK’S DEAD: A YOUNG PUNK’S ODYSSEY.

Featuring some of the main cast (Jason Segal and Matthew Lillard are not back), director James Merendino has managed to put together a story set fifteen years after the first, following the exploits of Heroin Bob’s son, played by Ben Schnetzer. Michael Goorjian returns as Heroin Bob who serves as a narrator from beyond the grave. Of course, the film comes chock full of music and comedy, just like the original.

18 years later, in PUNK’S DEAD, Bob is still dead, but Trish from the Bong Shop, Stevo, Sean the Beggar, John the Mod, crazy Mark and tree hugger Mike are arrogantly saving the world for another generation…or they are at least trying. Holding it all together will be the misadventures and observations of one of their offspring, an eccentric kid named Ross, the Spawn of Heroin Bob, who has a lot to live up to…

PUNK’S DEAD: A YOUNG PUNK’S ODYSSEY looks like a worthy sequel and keeps the tone and style of the original alive. Unlike this year’s DUMB AND DUMBER TO, next year may actually yield a decent follow-up to a film made more than a decade prior. And the punk style is still alive and well. The fashion has not gone away, with people wearing punk boots, leather, and chains, you only have to go the mall to find that punk is still very much a thing.

While the movie doesn’t yet have a release date, expect to see at least a limited theatrical run before it debuts On Demand. So ready your punk boots and other punk attire for this blast from the past.
