OCEAN’S
13
Directed by: Steven
Soderbergh

Starring: George Clooney, Brad
Pitt, Matt Damon…

PLOT:
A follow up to OCEAN’S ELEVEN and OCEAN’S TWELVE, OCEAN’S
THIRTEEN reunites Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and the gang in Vegas
to risk another calculated scheme and avenge the betrayal of their
despaired friend Reuben Tishkoff (Elliot Gould) who has suffered a
heart attack after being cheated out of his share in a new casino by
ruthless casino owner Willy Bank (Al Pacino).

CRITIQUE: The Vegas clan isn’t the only one seeking revenge
with the third installment of the OCEAN’S franchise. Director
Steven Soderbergh makes his own comeback to avenge the
negative reviews of TWELVE and find redemption with THIRTEEN.
Reminiscent of its old school roots, the film returns to its
original, classic casino setting to entertain us with another
sensational, dangerous heist. The grand production and all-star
ensemble cast is complimented with the addition of mega talented Al
Pacino and fiery Ellen Barkin.

Sadly, Julia Roberts does not return leaving Barkin as the
solo female in the epicenter of the distinguished boys club (lucky
girl!) Although Roberts is greatly missed, Barkin’s magnetic
and zesty performance
makes her a force to be reckoned with.
Having vast experience with gangster, bad boy roles, Pacino is
deliciously evil as always. As for the rest of the gang, they are
handsome and entertaining as usual.

Clooney and Pitt are irresistible in every scene they share.
Their camaraderie and chemistry is magical. Their witty exchanges
and funny dialogue are so engaging you can’t help but giggle like
a little enchanted schoolgirl. Charming
and gorgeous make this duo a continuously stimulating and
temperature raising sight. The remainder of the cast is humorous as
usual with the inclusion of Andy Garcia as Terry Benedict. Matt
Damon is especially funny with a new comical disguise to support his
increased responsibilities.

The fast paced, exciting, action packed plot is enhanced with
the use of rousing, vivid colors. Although the cinematography is
stimulating, the colors are so vibrant that they give some of the
cast an over tanned appearance. The score compliments the pace of
the film and the action is intensified with great cutaway shots and
awesome editing. Simply put, Soderbergh is a master at his craft and
OCEAN’S THIRTEEN is a showcase of his spectacular vision.
There isn’t a dull moment in the film as the men conspire
to contrive an ingenious plan of action for this complex heist which
they execute with perfection. I’m sure that OCEAN’S fans will be
very pleased and impressed with the outcome of this enjoyable film.
I was enticed from beginning to end!
