Giovanni Ribisi may not be the most versatile actor out there, but I’ve always enjoyed watching him nonetheless. Which is why I am excited to hear that he has joined the highly anticipated THE RUM DIARY, the Hunter S. Thompson adaptation starring Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart, and Amber Heard. Ribisi will play a sleazy journalist in the tale that follows Paul Kemp, a freelance reporter writing for a decrepit newspaper in 1950s Puerto Rico who is surrounded by a bunch of lost souls bent on their own self-destruction. Sounds oddly similar to this year’s Montreal Canadians, except that in the novel, the characters have a slight glimmer of redemption and hope, whereas the Habs do not.
