Hard to believe that the year has almost ended, and that one of the bigger Film Festivals is gearing up next month with Sundance. Oh yes it really isn’t far away, and all the announcements and press materials are slowly getting released. Possibly one of the strangest looking titles to be screened as part of the Park City At Midnight at Sundance is debut writer/director Richard Bates Jr’s film EXCISION.
So why is this so strange? Well take a gander at the stills, and try telling me otherwise. I mean what does that chick plan to do with the bloody tampon? She looks ready to eat it, nasty! The announced cast includes AnnaLynne McCord, Traci Lords, Ariel Winter, Roger Bart and John Waters. However IMDb lists names such as Malcolm McDowell, Marlee Matlin, Jeremy Sumpter and Ray Wise. I wonder why they weren’t included in the initial info on the site?
Whatever the case this certainly looks like one to be keeping our eyes on, scope the synopsis and enjoy. A disturbed and delusional high school student with aspirations of a career in medicine goes to extremes to earn the approval of her controlling mother.
Sundance runs from January 19th – 29th, 2012.
