Richard Dreyfuss & Mira Sorvino head new Dark Castle flick Reckoning

It's been a long time it seems since we've seen Richard Dreyfuss on the big screen in our beloved genre. From roles in Steven Spielberg's classic JAWS to a bit cameo in Alexander Aja's PIRANHA 3D (as unofficial Mat Hooper) Dreyfus is a name I'd like to see on the marquee a bit more often. And it looks like I'll be getting my wish as Dryefuss as just snagged the lead role in writer-director Adam Lipsius' crime thriller RECKONING.

Cooler still is the fact that the movie will co-star Oscar-winner and childhood crush Mira Sorvino and – get this – looks to be a new Dark Castle movie. Remember Dark Castle? They were the ones that put out such classics as the remakes of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, 13 GHOSTS, and GHOST SHIP back when you were in high school (at least I was). I thought they disappeared after GOTHIKA, HOUSE OF WAX, and ORPHAN. But it looks like they are still up and running producing such recent films as SPLICE, THE APPARITION, and strangely enough George Clooney's SUBURBICON.

Anyhow, back to the film at hand, the indie centers on:

Ben Myers (Dreyfuss), a temperamental, take-no-prisoners tough guy with a terrifying dark side who, despite suffering from leukemia while nursing his dementia-ridden wife, decides to seek revenge on the thieves who have destroyed his life.

Sorvino will play Police Detective Nick Wallace, Ben’s somewhat estranged daughter who rebukes his attempts to buy her affections. Lipsius is also producing along with Alex Mace. What do you think of this film thus far? Let us know below!
