Rick & Morty’s Jeff Loveness to pen the script for Ant-Man 3

While neither of the ANT-MAN films were major earners for Marvel, at least not compared to the billions which movies such as BLACK PANTHER, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, CAPTAIN MARVEL, AVENGERS: ENDGAME, and SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME have earned in recent years, it's nice that Marvel Studios is giving Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) another solo outing. It was announced last year that director Peyton Reed would be returning for the third installment of the series, and THR has now reported that the film has a writer in Rick & Morty's Jeff Loveness.

According to THR, Marvel Studio's actually wrapped up a deal with Jeff Loveness in the early days of Hollywood's shutdown, and it's said that he's already hard at work on the script. As for when production on ANT-MAN 3 might get underway, that's hard to say; production on THOR: LOVE & THUNDER and DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS was slated to kick off this year, but the current COVID-19 pandemic put an end to that. Disney/Marvel also recently pushed back most of the release dates of their upcoming Marvel films, which means that ANT-MAN 3 will likely be pushed even further. Paul Rudd will naturally be returning as Scott Lang, marking his fifth appearance in the MCU following ANT-MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, and AVENGERS: ENDGAME. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was asked about Marvel's plans for Scott Lang last year, but he would only tease that "The chess pieces were arranged very purposefully after ‘Endgame.’ Those that are off the board are off, and those that are still on, you never know."
