It’s coming up on that time of the year where Christmas movies flood the Cineplex at a dime a dozen. If it’s not Ben Affleck, then it’s scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis trying to fill our lives with a little holiday cheer. Oh, and WWE superstar Goldberg (Bill Goldberg) in his upcoming horror/comedy SANTA’S SLAY, from producer Brett Ratner (RED DRAGON).
I guess it’s also the season for wrestlers to try and make it on the big screen (Kane in EYE SCREAM MAN)- either way, we haven’t seen a good Christmas themed horror movie in a while (I’m a big fan of the SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT series)- and it doesn’t look like we’re going to see one anytime soon. Here’s the official synopsis from Media 8 Entertainment:
It turns out that Santa Claus (WWE Wrestling star Goldberg) is not really the cuddly, harmless old fellow that we all know and love. In fact, he’s a devil, and the only thing that has been keeping his bad side in check all this time is a bet he lost with an angel.
Now, the bet has expired, and 1000 years of good cheer will be replaced by Christmas fear. This Christmas will be a violent night of chaos, with Santa bashing his way through town. Local boy Nicholas (Douglas Smith), his girlfriend Mac (Emilie de Ravin), and his crazy Grandfather (Robert Culp) are the only ones who know the truth about Santa, and can save their town and the world.
SANTA’S SLAY is a fast paced horror/ comedy which casts everybody’s favorite Holiday figure, Santa Claus, in a very different – and sinister – light.
Oh boy… I will give them props on their tag line (), and I suppose, if nothing else, it will be entertaining- in a JACK FROST meets RUMPLESTILSKIN kind of way. Goldberg, although sporting a long beard, is a pretty big stretch for Santa- I mean, holy shit, he’s ripped! I guess that’s what happens when Santa’s the devil…
Written and directed by David Steiman, and co-starring hottie Emillie De Ravin, SANTA’S SLAY is slated to be released sometime this holiday season.
