Well color me surprised! Despite looking like a pile of steaming crap, despite the majority of negative reviews, despite being the most expensive movie ever made not screened for critics and despite Nic Cage’s extensive hair plugs, GHOST RIDER slaughtered the competition over this President’s Day Weekend, breaking the record for the biggest box office bank for this holiday EVER!!!
So far it’s sitting at a pretty $44.5M, and will likely breach the $50M mark by the end of the day. Wow. Either people love their comic book movies, or they love them some Nic Cage… or both! Whatever the reason, the Rider kicked ass, and as a fan of comic’s and horror, we should be glad…. right?
My only concern would be that more comic movies will be made like this because they make so much bank… and in the quality department, that’s just not good enough! Ah well… it’s still cool to see it kicking box office ass, regardless of the quality of the actual film. Check out the top 10 below to see just how much the RIDER killed the competition.
