It’s been a whole lot of talk so far in regards to the ALIEN prequels we’re all so eagerly awaiting. Which is fine, I get that, it’s a lot of work making a movie, especially one so (hopefully) epic and detailed as a new ALIEN flick. But at this point, I’m ready for some action. The last bit of movement we heard was that “Lost” co-creator Damon Lindelof had come on board to polish the script. (Great, now it’s gonna make zero sense.) But since then… it’s been quiet. Until now!!!
Well, actually, it’s still pretty quiet – save for Ridley Scott once again chatting it up. The director sat down with Brit publication The Independent to help promote the upcoming ROBIN HOOD DVD release, and spoke all-too-briefly about the fresh vision of ALIEN.
“The film will be really tough, really nasty,” Scott said. “It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?”
Food for thought… Ridley also brings up the obvious: That it’ll be tough to top James Cameron’s ALIENS. “Jim’s raised the bar and I’ve got to jump to it. He’s not going to get away with it.”
Great. Now Ridley, I know you’re 72 and all, but will you and Fox just get on with it? I’m ready to be genuinely excited about these ALIEN prequels…
