Ridley Scott’s Gladiator to return to the ring for 20th anniversary event

Are you ready to be entertained?

To mark the 20th anniversary of director Ridley Scott's rousing epic, Fathom Events and Paramount Pictures will bring GLADIATOR back to movie theaters throughout the country on April 13, 15 and 19, accompanied by a special featurette that explores the making of an alternate, unused title sequence for the film.

Previously nominated for 12 Academy Awards, GLADIATOR won the prize for Best Picture and Actor for Russell Crowe's spirited, rage-filled performance, as well as three other awards that evening. Inspired by Daniel P. Mannix’s 1958 book “Those About to Die,” GLADIATOR tells a harrowing tale of a Roman general (Crowe) who is betrayed by a corrupt prince (Joaquin Phoenix) and comes to Rome as a gladiator to seek revenge. The film entered the ring as a real crowd-pleaser with over $460 million worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing film globally in 2000. In addition to today's announcement, GLADIATOR will also be available in a new Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Steelbook on May 5, 2020.

Tickets for GLADIATOR can be purchased at FathomEvents.com or participating theater box offices. For a complete list of theater locations — including over 600 U.S. theaters set to host the event — visit the Fathom Events website.
