Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2 supposedly shoots in January

While it’s debatable whether or not we actually need a PROMETHEUS sequel, we’re getting one. Ridley Scott is once again at the helm, with a script from GREEN LANTERN scribe Michael Green and TRANSCENDENCE writer Jack Paglan. (Everyone loves those two movies, right?) Can these fellows right the wrongs of the first film? That’s the hope we must hold onto. (Naturally I’m making a generalization; I realize some people really liked the first one, but it seems clear the majority of fans were let down.)

In any event, the film (which Scott has said will not feature any “dragons”) hasn’t made much noise in recent months, but if a new report is to be believed, it could be gearing up to go in front of cameras relatively soon. The latest issue of Total Film (via SciFied) purports PROMETHEUS 2 will commence production in January 2016, only five months away. Whether or not this is ironclad remains to be seen, but it’s a nice morsel of news for those of you genuinely looking forward to the follow-up.

Plot details are scant, but we  do know we’ll be following the adventures of Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender’s David, who of course was merely a talking head when we last saw him. Shaw and David are hitting the stars in search of humanity’s creators; I’m sure it’ll go swimmingly.

Scott’s new film, THE MARTIAN, opens in October.
