Paramount has really been milking every last drop they can out of the fact that they got Rihanna to do an original song for the release of STAR TREK BEYOND. Then again, what else can they really do with those involved with the sequel still in shock over the tragic death of Anton Yelchin just a few short weeks ago? They're not going to trot out cast members to promote the film at this juncture, only to be faced with eulogizing their friend and co-worker at every turn. The hurt is still fresh, and so it's up to Rihanna to shoulder the load of reminding people there is still a new STAR TREK movie hitting theaters in the not-so-distant future.
"Sledgehammer" is a pretty solid Rihanna track, that's for sure… and while the music video isn't one of her best, I could certainly find myself adding the song to my audio playlist soon enough. I also hope it's used well when called upon in the film, because it certainly does add something dramatic to the equation when it's fired up in the most recent trailer for STAR TREK BEYOND.
