But worry not folks! According to Variety there may be another director in line to dive into the Lagoon: Carl Erik Rinsch. The commercial director is in early talks with Universal to make CREATURE his second directorial effort, after the Keanu Reeves starring 47 RONIN. You maybe remember seeing Rinsch’s name pop up when that whole ALIEN prequel thing started, before Ridley Scott decided to helm the project himself. So what do you guys think? This is a very iffy gamble considering Rinsch doesn’t have any feature credits to his name. You think he can handle the task of remaking one of Universal’s classic monster movies?
The original 1954 film was about an undersea creature that terrorizes a scientific expedition, to put it simply. In case you can’t tell, I’ve always been intrigued by the Creature. Just seems like there’s so much potential with this movie icon but the poor guy just got lost in the shuffle of Draculas, Wolfmans and Frankensteins. Any other Creature fans out there? You stoked for this remake or would you rather stick to the classic films? The project has been on the table for a while now so hopefully these talks help this thing hit the fast track! As always keep it here for more CREATURE updates as we hear them.
