R.I.P.: Romy Walthall of Face/Off and Howling IV has passed away at 57

Actor/director Morgan Krantz, the son of actress Romy Walthall (a.k.a. Romy Windsor), has confirmed the sad news that his mother has passed away at the much too young age of 57. According to Variety, Walthall died on May 19th after experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

Over the course of a screen acting career that lasted more than 25 years, Walthall racked up credits on almost 50 different projects. Much of her work was in television, where she appeared on shows like Charles in Charge, T.J. Hooker, Moonlighting, Quantum Leap, Jake and the Fat Man, Matlock, In the Heat of the Night, L.A. Law, Diagnosis Murder, Murder One, Silk Stalkings, Nash Bridges, 8 Simple Rules, and The X-Files. She also worked on some feature films, like playing "Kimberly, the neurotic secretary of John Travolta's Sean Archer" in Face/Off.

Horror fans may remember her from Howling IV: The Original Nightmare and the 1989 version of The House of Usher, which starred Oliver Reed and Donald Pleasence. She was credited as Romy Windsor on those two films, then went by Romy Walthall when she made an appearance in Howling: New Moon Rising.

Born on September 16, 1963 in Pasadena, Texas, Walthall became a model after winning the Mother/Daughter USA pageant in 1980, and from modeling she segued into acting. Her final screen appearance was in 2011's 0s & 1s, which also starred her son Morgan. After that, Walthall became an acting teacher in the San Fernando Valley.

Walthall is survived by her mother, sister, and three children: Morgan Krantz, Isabella Israel, and Theodore Dudley.

Our sincere condolences go out to her family, friends, and fans.
