Some sad news to share with you as THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE star Marilyn Burns has passed away at the age of 65.

Burns became a horror icon with Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic film THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE, delivering a truly memorable performance as Sally Hardesty, the sole survivor of Leatherface's brutal rampage. It was truly one of the most convincing 'terrified' performances ever committed to film. Burns also appeared in the 1976 TV movie "Helter Skelter," Tobe Hooper's EATEN ALIVE, FUTURE-KILL, and also made cameo appearances in 1994’s TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE NEXT GENERATION and 2013’s TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D.

Burns was found unresponsive yesterday by a family member in her home in Texas. Her manager later confirmed that Burns had passed away.

This is truly sad news as Hollywood has lost a true Scream Queen. Her convincing performance in THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE is one of the main reasons why the film is so effective and terrifying. We here at AITH send our deepest condolences to her friends, family, and to her legion of fans worldwide.
