RLJE Films snags up Joe Begos’ V.F.W. with Stephen Lang & William Sadler

Like many of you guys out there, one of the films I'm looking forward to checking out ASAP is ALMOST HUMAN and THE MIND'S EYE director Joe Begos' V.F.W. starring Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, and Martin Kove. And today we have word that RLJE Films has acquired North American rights to the action-horror movie ahead of its world premiere at Austin’s Fantastic Fest this Saturday.

RLJE Films’ chief acquisitions officer Mark Ward said:

We are so excited to work with the legendary Stephen Lang. With Joe Begos at the helm, we have no doubt that the movie will create waves at this year’s Fantastic Fest and set the momentum for the upcoming release.

Penned by Max Brallier & Matthew McArdle, VFW was pitched as  "THE WILD BUNCH meets NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" and revolves around

A group of war veterans who must defend their local VFW post and an innocent teen against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants. These Vietnam vets have been to hell and back, but this will be the longest night of their lives.

George Wendt, David Patrick Kelly, Tom Williamson, Sierra McCormick, Travis Hammer, and Dora Madison also star.

Dallas Sonnier (BONE TOMAHAWK), Amanda Presmyk (SATANIC PANIC) and Josh Ethier (BLISS) are producers. Executive producers are Media Finance Capital’s David Gilbert and Charles Dorfman, Fangoria’s Danielle Cox and Phil Nobile Jr., Stephen Lang, Noah Lang, Bobby Campbell, Adam Donaghey, Jonathan Deckter and Marc Hofstatter. RLJE will release it in theaters on on-demand in the first-quarter of 2020.

Again, this flick is one of the top genre movies I'm looking forward to checking out ASAP. I dug both of Begos' previous movies (check out the trailer for THE MIND'S EYE below) and can't wait to check out his "grungy New York horror" flick BLISS starring Dora Madison as well. Bring 'em on!
