I like to be kept abreast of all of Robert De Niro‘s upcoming projects especially if they involve him as a cop or a crook. The next project the actor has lined up is CANDY STORE with co-star Jason Clarke (THE GREAT GATSBY, ZERO DARK THIRTY).

The script comes from Stephen Gaghan (TRAFFIC) and Shannon Burke. Gaghan, whose last directorial effort was 2005’s SYRIANA will also helm the film.

The story set in the Brooklyn underworld centers on, “a former covert ops agent (Clarke) discovers the organization he has been fighting all his career has set up shop in his backyard. He teams with a former cop (De Niro) to stop the threat that could endanger the city of New York.”

De Niro we last saw in SILVER LINING’S PLAYBOOK and if you’re feeling dangerous, go check him out in THE BIG WEDDING which is already in a theater near you. Were there even any TV spots for that? Sheesh.
