Robert Downey Jr. says heads will roll in Avengers: Infinity War

Sure, there have been heroes who have bit the dust in the past decade of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, but there haven't been many who have remained six feet under permanently. The upcoming AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR should change all that, as it's expected that several characters will be shuffling off this mortal coil. While chatting with Entertainment Weekly (be sure to check out the new covers/images), Robert Downey Jr. spoke of the team facing yet another world-ending threat, except this time, it will be different.

Believe me, I’m tired of every movie, you know, “It’s the end! It’s Armageddon! It’s the Be All, End All, Forever!” And then it’s … not. This one actually is. [Laughs] They’re not kidding. This is a heads-will-roll scenario.

As many of Marvel's longest-running actors will be completing their contracts with AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and its sequel, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans, it's easy to take Downey Jr. at his word. The actor added that "We’re going to pull out the stops, and stop exploring conventions, and look to do stuff where we go, ‘Oh, but if we do that, that’s very, very definitive.’ Well, great, let’s get definitive for a change! We’re like a family now. Ten years later, we’re hanging out and having lunch, and kind of wondering when the draft is going to come in. Which one of us bites it and when?" AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely said that while some characters may get to ride off into the sunset, others will sacrifice themselves or fall in battle. "It’s safe to say we will say farewell to people," McFeely promised.

Which characters do you think are most likely to kick the bucket in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR?

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will hit theaters on April 27, 2018.
