Robert Duvall joins the cast of Steve McQueen’s Widows

Steve McQueen's latest project has been assembling quite the cast for the past few months, but so far, there's been no sign of Michael Fassbender. However, it has now been announced that the latest actor to join the cast of WIDOWS will be the great Robert Duvall (WILD HORSES).

WIDOWS is based on the 1983 British mini-series of the same name and has been penned by GONE GIRL author Gillian Flynn. The film centers on "the aftermath of four armed robbers killed during a failed heist, and their surviving widows join forces and resolve to pull off the raid themselves." No word yet on who Robert Duvall might be playing, but he's joining a killer cast which already includes Viola Davis (FENCES), Michelle Rodriguez (THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS), Cynthia Erivo (Mr. Selfridge), Elizabeth Debicki (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2), André Holland (MOONLIGHT), Daniel Kaluuya (GET OUT), Liam Neeson (SILENCE) and Colin Farrell (THE LOBSTER).

Although Robert Duvall hasn't been quite as active in the world of film as he once was, he's still been involved in a handful of projects over the past few years, including writing, directing and starring in WILD HORSES, a crime drama which also starred James Franco and Josh Hartnett. Duvall reunited with James Franco recently for IN DUBIOUS BATTLE, an adaptation of the John Steinbeck novel which dealt with the labor movement for fruit workers in California during the 1930s.
