Robert Pattinson & a miniature horse take on the old west in Damsel trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Some of my favourite films of all-time belong to the western genre, so I'm always willing to give any new ones that come my way a chance. Based upon the delightfully quirky trailer for the latest flick from the Zellner brothers, I'll almost certainly be checking out DAMSEL, a western/comedy starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska. Taking place in 1870, DAMSEL finds Pattinson playing Samuel Alabaster, an affluent pioneer who ventures deep into the American wilderness to reunite and marry the love of his life, Penelope (Wasikowska). Bringing along Butterscotch, a miniature horse intended to be a wedding present for Penelope, Alabaster recruits drunkard Parson Henry (David Zellner) to conduct the ceremony, but as they traverse the lawless frontier, their once simple journey grows treacherous, and the lines between hero, villain, and damsel are blurred. I can't imagine that DAMSEL will be to everyone's taste, but it definitely looks like a good time, albeit an odd one.

DAMSEL will hit theaters on June 22, 2018.
