Two Robin Williams classics get new 4K Blu-ray releases

Robin Williams‘ films are seemingly timeless. Whether they be comedies or dramas, the beloved late star always gives so much into his performances and that’s what made him resonate with so many people. He was able to elicit powerful emotions through his films and his classics are now coming to 4K Blu-ray courtesy of Disney. Dead Poets Society and Mrs. Doubtfire, two of Robin Williams’ most iconic films, will debut on 4K Digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on September 29.

The official synopsis for Dead Poets Society reads,
“For generations, Welton Academy students have been groomed to live lives of conformity and tradition–until new professor John Keating (Robin Williams) inspires them to think for themselves, live life to the fullest and ‘Carpe Diem.’ This unconventional approach awakens the spirits of the students, but draws the wrath of a disapproving faculty when an unexpected tragedy strikes the school. Both titles rank among Robin Williams’ best and most successful films. Dead Poets Society grossed over $235 million worldwide and earned a slew of Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (for Peter Weir) and Best Actor for Williams. Mrs. Doubtfire was an even bigger hit, making $441 million worldwide (in 1992 dollars), and making Williams perhaps the biggest comic star of his era. It will be nice to have two of the late legend’s finest films on 4K, with each certainly a day one purchase for fans.
