We’ve known for some time that MGM is at least in the earliest of planning stages for ROBOCOP: THE REMAKE YOU’RE POWERLESS TO STOP (check out our last update HERE). That reality continues to grow, bit by bit, with the revelation that it might be filmed in amazing! 3-D.
MGM Chairperson Mary Parent made the following comment the other day: “‘RoboCop” would be great in 3-D, as would something we’re hoping to announce soon.”
Okay, so the world isn’t quite on fire, but it’s an interesting precursor to the inevitable official announcement that the 1987 Paul Verhoeven sci-fi thriller/dark comedy is getting a makeover. Does this soften the blow at all? Can’t say. All I know that it will take just the right director (*coughMiikecough*) at the helm to make this thing even remotely appealing. I’m sure we can expect more news on this blasphemy in the coming months…
