Let’s see… So far today I’ve eaten a soggy bowl of cereal, paid some bills, picked up the mail, played a few minutes of “Punch Out” on Wii, tweeted a few times. A rather unremarkable morning (for a pretty unremarkable fellow). But that’s about double the amount of time Jack White needs to compose a pretty bitchin’ rock song.
In this new clip from the documentary IT MIGHT GET LOUD, White Stripes frontman White is challenged to write a song on the spot. So he grabs a pencil, quickly sketches some lyrics, picks up his guitar, turns on the tape and records the song in one take. He takes the reel off the recorder and hands it to the documentarian. Boom. Rock song. Just like that. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go make myself a grilled cheese sandwich.
