Rocky & Rambo items sell big at Sylvester Stallone auction

Sylvester Stallone memorabilia was on full display over the weekend at an auction, and some of it fetched in the six-figure range for die-hard fans willing to pay for it.

The biggest sale from the Property from the Life and Career of Sylvester Stallone at Julien’s Auctions, per “Rolling Stone“, was a spiral-bound notebook in which Stallone began to work out the script for his 1976 Best Picture Oscar winner, Rocky. The notebook, which features handwritten plot details, scene specifications, character concepts, and dialogue, was expected to sell for $50,000 but ended going for a staggering $437,500.

Other big-ticket items from the Rocky franchise included the American flag shorts Stallone wore in the final Rocky III fight against Mr. T’s Clubber Lang ($200,000) and original Rocky artwork signed by Stallone ($112,500). Handwritten notes for various Rocky sequels also sold in the five-figure range.

Rambo items also went for high prices and topping the list was a #1 of 13 custom “Hero” knife made by knife smith Jimmy Lile for Rambo: First Blood. That item sold for $128,000 while other costume pieces from the Rambo franchise went for $51,200, $32,000, and $16,000, respectively.

Beyond the Rocky and Rambo franchises, items from his other films also sold well. A Gianni Versace-designed Judge Dredd costume made for exhibition purposes at Planet Hollywood went for $11,250 while an ax-handle from the seventies film F.I.S.T. signed by Stallone and other cast members sold for $11,520.
