“‘Fragile’ gives me the opportunity to explore the horror we’re used to in the genre but set in a unique post-apocalyptic world where zombies aren’t the monsters anymore.”
By his description, it sounds a little like Briane Keene’s novel THE RISING. FRAGILE is based off the graphic novel of the same name by Stefano Raffaele. According to Variety, the synopsis for the novel is: the story kicks off after an airborne virus has reduced much of the Earth’s population to feral zombies. A recently undead soldier then teams with a female zombie and a human teenager, racing against time to find a cure before being hunted down by the soldier’s former military unit.
Sounds pretty cool. A lot of possibilities with this one. Rodriguez’s other credits include directing the films OPEN GRAVE (currently in pre-production) and CURANDERO, which was actually written by THAT Rodriguez (Robert Rodriguez). John Baldecchi, Justin Connolly, Pierre Spengler, and Fabrice Giger are all producing FRAGILE with Keith Dinielli co-producing. Jeff Dixon adapted the screenplay from the graphic novel (published by Humanoids). Dixon is also working on a graphic novel of his own for Viper Comics called RUN LIKE HELL and is currently working on the script for Maverick Films’ BURIED.
We’ll keep you updated on any FRAGILE news we hear.
