Rogue One actor Diego Luna may join Sony’s Flatliners remake

The Wrap has learned that Diego Luna (ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, ELYSIUM) is in talks with Sony to star in their FLATLINERS remake. If Luna does officially sign on for the movie, he'll be joining the previously cast Ellen Page.

Like the original 1990 film, the remake will follow "a group of medical students who experiment with 'near death' experiences that involve past tragedies until the dark consequences begin to jeopardize their own lives." But apparently the cast will be more ethnically diverse compared to the Joel Schumacher-directed thriller, and it will also feature three female and two male leads this time around.

Niels Arden Oplev (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, DEAD MAN DOWN) will be behind the camera when filming starts in July, and he'll be directing from a script by SOURCE CODE scribe Ben Ripley. Who would you like to see star alongside Luna and Page in FLATLINERS?

In addition to ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, Luna's other upcoming movies also include Jean-François Richet's BLOOD FATHER and Ana Lily Amirpour's THE BAD BATCH.
