Remember way back when I told you guys about George Romero’s son and his directorial debut? For those of you who don’t, Fango received new info on G. Cameron Romero’s said project.
The film in question, entitled 24 FRAMES, has now been renamed THE SCREENING, and is being targetted for a spring 2006 release. Why the name change? “24 FRAMES was always the working title,” says Romero. “and since we began preproduction in August, the movie itself has undergone as serious shift in tone. It started off as a rather silly slasher movie, and has evolved into a pretty hardcore, action-packed horror story.” Details aren’t forthcoming on the film’s story, but Romero did say that it involves a series of underground films and the effects they have on those who see it. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what the results are.
Produced by Romero’s longtime partner Christofer Lombardo and executive-produced by James Aiello, Jeff Battin and Melissa Cuadra, THE SCREENING was written by THE RESURRECTION GAME’s Mike Watt and will star Nikki McIntyre, Matt Burns, Amy Lynn Best, Eric James, Debbie Rochon, Daniel Conville, Patrick Jordan, Sam Nicotero and Jeff Monahan, who was the screenwriter behind Tom Savini’s CHILL FACTOR. Erik “Benzi” Bencivenga of BenziDream F/X Studios, with assistance from students at Tom Savini’s Special Makeup and Effects Program and from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, is providing the FX. RESURRECTION GAME’s Jason D. Ralph is composing the original score, while the production design is by R. Joel Dinkel.
