It’s no secret that the zombie kingpin himself George A. Romero is once again bringing the living dead to life. We last told you about his latest zombie project over here. We didn’t know much at first, just that Romero was working on a new ‘OF THE DEAD’ movie and it wasn’t a sequel to DIARY OF THE DEAD.
Then we learned that the film would follow the inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure and that it would star Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe, Devon Bostick, Richard Fitzpatrick, Stefano Colacitti, and Athena Karkanis.
Well today we don’t know much more, but we do have a couple cool things to pass along to all of you! First the guys over at Bloody Disgusting got a look at a still for Romero’s latest! You can get a glimpse of the juicy goodness above, just click through to check it all out. We also learned that IMDB currently has the film tagged as ISLAND OF THE DEAD. But we all know how reliable IMDB is…
So there you have it. Romero tried to go back to his roots and do DIARY in an indie sense, we all saw how that turned out. So what is he trying to do now? He’s been very hush hush over this entire project so only time will tell. Is it just me, or does it seem like everything about this is pointing to a sequel to the 2004 DAWN OF THE DEAD remake? I’m sure most know about the clip after the credits showing the survivors stumbling upon an island that they figured would be safe, except it wasn’t. Speculation will surround this flick until Romero tells us exactly what we’re waiting for. So speculate away!
