Rosario Dawson says her potential casting as Ahsoka Tano remains unconfirmed

Back in March is was reported that KIDS and LUKE CAGE actress Rosario Dawson was potentially joining the Star Wars Universe as fan favorite character Ahsoka Tano for the second season of Jon Favreau's THE MANDALORIAN. Naturally, the rumor resulted in a deafening roar of cheers from the Star Wars fandom, but we've heard little about the casting ever since.

Now, thanks to a recent interview with Variety, Dawson has stated that her playing Ahsoka Tano for Disney's THE MANDALORIAN remains unconfirmed.

“That’s not confirmed yet but when that happens, I will be very happy. I’m very excited for that to be confirmed at some point,” she told the entertainment outlet, adding it would be “a million and one percent because of the fans.”

Is anyone else thinking that the keyword here is "yet?" Now I'm not saying that Dawson just confirmed the role by not confirming it, but it does sound as if it's only a matter of time before a proper announcement can be issued. Again, this is just me putting a magnifying glass to the above statement, but c'mon! Obviously, we'll have to wait for more information to know whether or not Dawson is planning a trip to a galaxy far, far away, so keep those fingers crossed!

Oh, and in case you missed it, I recently sat down with Ahsoka Tano voice actress Ashley Eckstein to talk about the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Mandalorian casting rumors, the release of her new book I Am a Padawan, and much more! You can watch the interview for yourself below!

In addition to talking Star Wars, Dawson also geeked out about her desire to land a role in the Star Trek Universe.

“The two universes, ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Star Wars.’ I get in those two, I’m telling you, man, that’s it. I will just retire. And then I can just concentrate on going to school and running for office. That would be it,” Dawson playfully confessed during her interview spot. She also admitted that she would be content to play a background Romulan or Vulcan, although her father seems to think that she'd make for a good Q, an extra-dimensional being of unknown origin that's been featured throughout many iterations of the Star Trek series.

“I mean it would be great ‘cause then I could jump on ‘Discovery.’ I could be on ‘Picard.’ I just want to be with Jean-Luc Picard,” Dawson said while the purest of geek blood continued to flow through her veins.

What say you, Star Wars fans? Do you think that Dawson's casting as Ahsoka Tano is just an official announcement away? Would you be down for her to join the Star Trek Universe? If so, who would you like to see her play? Let us know in the comments section below.
