I’m always game for an alien invasion flick. It’s the kid in me that yearns for the sight of villains from outer space just laying waste to this beautiful planet of ours. So it’s with restrained glee that I bring news of an alien invasion movie called, well, INVASION.
According to ShockTillYouDrop, INVASION is a spec script by Ben Magid that was just purchased by Summit Entertainment; it has Eli Roth attached as producer, along with Eric Newman. All that is known so far is that it opens with a wicked subway accident in Los Angeles in which the survivors (the film’s protagonists) climb from the wreckage to find the, now “snowy,” city in ruins. What they encounter topside is bodies, mobs of people in a state of panic and acidic “goo.”
Is this an invasion of visitors from another planet? Or some other type of beastie? STYD describes the project as being “CLOVERFIELD-esque”, although it’s unknown if that refers to the handheld aspect or the monster aspect. In any event, we’ll be keeping an eye on INVASION (thankfully not a remake of THE INVASION starring Nicole Kidman, below).
