Roth talks more H2

For many of you, HOSTEL made your January, and got you over your post-holiday depression. So the idea of HOSTEL 2 is a sweet one, and director Eli Roth is all loose lips about the whole thing.

It seems like we’ve heard him talk about the sequel before, but Now Playing Magazine scored an interview with the guy, and he’s about as excited as a schoolboy sneaking into his first strip club about the whole deal. Here’s just a tidbit of what Roth had to say about HOSTEL 2:

“The follow-up will go in all sorts of different, crazy places, but I always thought it would be really cool to do a sequel to a movie and basically pick it up with the next cut that you would have done if the movie didn’t end. I think that there’s no need to make it fun in the first 30 minutes anymore. I think we’ll start off with the creepy, ominous tone right in the beginning. I’ve seen the movie so many times with audiences that I think I really got a good feel for what works and what people were responding to, and there’s plenty that I want to expand upon.”

I’m all about keeping it dark, but I don’t know if I could take the intensity for the entire film! That’s one thing I thought HOSTEL excelled at- build up. It seemed nice and peaceful on the surface, but you knew some shit was gonna go down, which made it that much more intense.
