Mr. Eli Roth (right) is apparently in talks to star alongside Pitt as one of the titular Bastards. According to Variety, Roth is up for the part of Sgt. Donnie Donowitz. Now I got a gander at the script, and one of my favorite characters was Donowitz… but Roth? When I think of a tough guy from the Boston area who uses no other weapon but a baseball bat in the vicious enemy territory of World War 2… Roth isn’t the first name that comes to mind. Plus is he even an actor?
But I’m going to keep my judgement aside. I know Roth is probably game on giving a spot on performance, plus this is Tarantino’s baby and the man knows what he’s doing. And remember back when there were rumors that Tarantino was out to get Leo DiCaprio to play the bad guy in the flick? Well apparently that was true but Mr. Tarantino changed his mind in favor of finding a German actor to play the role. Makes sense… but we’re talking DiCaprio here… I would’ve been down!
So the cast for INGLORIOUS BASTARDS is starting to shape up and dare I say it looks impressive? Tarantino really wants to get this one right. He’s expected to formalize the cast soon, so we’ll keep you updated.
