RR helms Preacher?

There’s been a lot of talk, and a lot of speculation, regarding the HBO adaptation of PREACHER, based on the vigilante comic book of the same name. Some want it like they want a $2 hooker, while others don’t want anything to do with it… like a $2 hooker. Either way you look at it, things just got a little more interesting…

Comics2Film is reporting that original series pilot director Howard Deutch is now out of the project, and none other than Robert Rodriguez is IN. Or at least, he’s in talks and is being considered to board the project. Maybe before BARBELLA begins rolling? Maybe after? Who knows! I’m not even sure what there is to consider, if Rodriguez is interested, let the man direct it!!!

What has many folks in uproar about the possible HBO series is Mark Steven Johnson’s involvement, who’s both writing and producing it. Johnson, of course, is da man behind such craptacular comic adaptations as GHOST RIDER and DAREDEVIL, so it’s little surprise some peeps are anxious about his involvement.

While I can’t say I like his movies, Johnson obviously has love for comics, so as long as he isn’t directing, it’s probably a good thing he’s on board. Plus, if Rodriguez does take this project on… holy crap, it could do no harm!!!
