Rumor: Booster Gold & Blue Beetle superhero buddy cop movie in the works

Sources tell The Tracking Board that DC Comics' Booster Gold and Blue Beetle may be heading to the big screen in what is being pitched as a "superhero buddy cop movie," with Arrow and The Flash writer/producer Greg Berlanti set to direct and executive produce.

TB says "comedy is the emphasis here," which will come as good news to those who think the DC Cinematic Universe is too dark and serious compared to the MCU, and the project could be DC's answer to Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and ANT-MAN. The site also says Booster Gold and Blue Beetle "are being planted now to appear" in a future Justice League film. HH later added that they've heard Warner Bros. has set its sights on Zak Penn to write the movie.

While part of me is excited Booster Gold and Blue Beetle might be teaming up in a live-action feature film, I'm not sold on Greg Berlanti directing. But this is strictly just a rumor, so we'll have to wait and see if there's any truth to TB's report. In the meantime, who would you like to see play the duo? Should Warner Bros. and DC give Nathan Fillion a call to see if he's still interested?

The next entry in the DCCU, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, opens on March 25, 2016, followed by SUICIDE SQUAD on August 5, 2016.
