Rumor: Captain America: The Winter Soldier to tease two new Avengers

In something that will surprise no one, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER will feature a post-credits scene (aka a “stinger”) that will tease next year’s THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. So far, IRON MAN 3 and THOR: THE DARK WORLD have featured stingers that referenced THE AVENGERS by featuring Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and teasing GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, respectively, but this would be the first direct connection to THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON.

According to Lainey Gossip, the post-credits sequence from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, as seen during test screenings of the film, will introduce us to not one but two new Avengers dubbed “The Twins”. Who are they? I am sure you can guess.

They’re calling them “The Twins”, the brother-sister team of Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, and they don’t look like any Marvel heroes we’ve met to date. Having seen them, I am really sad for Fox and the X-Men.

While this will still be considered a rumor until we see the movie, I think there is no other logical setup for THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON aside from this. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY will not directly tie into Joss Whedon‘s sequel and there are no other films in which they can setup the debut of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen‘s brother/sister duo.

Here’s hoping it is the perfect cap, pun intended, to what is looking like the best Marvel movie to date. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER opens April 4, 2014.
