Rumor: Christina Ricci to play Morticia Addams in the new Wednesday show?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

So this could be interesting! Now, obviously take it with a grain of salt for now, but The Illuminerdi is reporting that Tim Burton's upcoming live-action Netflix Addams Family series – titled Wednesday – is looking to cast the OG Wednesday from the '90s films, Christina Ricci, as the Addams family matriarch, Morticia!

Meanwhile, the top contenders for the role of adult Wednesday herself are Jenna Ortega and Bailee Madison, and that the studio is specifically seeking out Hispanic actresses for the role (which makes sense, as both recent reboots had Hispanic actors playing Gomez, i.e. Raul Julia and Oscar Isaac, so presumably this version will as well).

Anyway, here's is the official synopsis:

The latest adaptation will branch into a spin-off prequel on Netflix focusing on the young psychic in her primitive years at Nevermore Academy away from her family.

Now, no official release or start date as of yet, but we'll keep you updated!

So what do you guys think? Would you like to see Ricci as Morticia? Either way, sound off below!
