We’ve got a kick-ass new pic from the upcoming old-school-style slasher THE HILLS RUN RED (above) featuring our very first look at the flick’s killer as well as super hot leading lady Sophie Monk! I’ve gotta say that although it is only a profile, I’m really friggin’ diggin’ the look of that villain! Pretty freakin’ creepy! It sort of reminds me of the bad guy from DARK RIDE only better. That is some sick, twisted shit!
I’m now really looking forward to HILLS, which is still aiming for a late 2008 release. The synopsis is just fantastic. Have a look: Harkening back to ’80s body count slasher fare, the flick follows a group of young filmmakers trying to unlock the mysteries of a nefarious grindhouse movie entitled “The Hills Run Red” and its director. For help, they enlist the film’s only surviving cast member to take them through its remote backwoods locations. While looking into it, they discover it was in fact the real deal, and they’re unfortunately going to figure prominently in the follow-up. Some good, old-fashioned axing ensues!
This is the type of slasher that deserves a theatrical release. I guess we’ll have to just wait and see. THE HILLS RUN RED was directed by Dave Parker and scripted by David J. Schow. In addition to Monk (below, enjoying a snack), it also stars Tad Hilgenbrink, Mike Straub, Ewan Bailey, and stuntman Danko Jordanov as the man behind the mask.
