Rupert Wyatt’s Rise Of The Apes gets moved up from November to August!

I’m not sure if this is an admission of low quality or an opportunity to seize a summer dollar…

Whatever the motivation is, it seems 20th Century Fox has moved up Rupert Wyatt’s RISE OF THE APES from November 23rd to August 5th. That’s quite a climb!

Word from Fox brass is basically what I asserted in the second scenario. After seeing the film, RISE OF THE APES is said to be the perfect summer tent pole outing. Actually that makes sense, seeing how a Thanksgiving release was never about awards cache, but a la AVATAR, counterprogramming to such that could earn far more if going head to head with likeminded summer blockbusters. Guess we’ll see how it all pans out for Fox and company.

Starring James Franco, Freida Pinto (below), Andy Serkis, Tom Felton, Brian Cox, John Lithgow, Tyler Labine, David Hewlett, Sonja Bennett, Leah Gibson and Chelah Horsdal –

RISE OF THE APES is: Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

RISE OF THE APES swings into theaters August 5th!
