Russian poster for Evil Dead is bloodless, uninspired

A new international EVIL DEAD poster has hit the web (based on the striking image above) and while some could argue it captures the terror the film aims to provide, I find it to be bland and uninspired. But you be the judge by checking it out below.

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

It’s nowhere near as ominous as some of the other posters we’ve seen (especially THIS ONE), and the fact that they digitally removed the blood is somewhat bothersome. But I suppose they can’t all be winners, now can they?

Directed by Fede Alvarez, the festival hit remake of EVIL DEAD stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore and Jessica Lucas. The film has been rated R for “strong bloody violence and gore, some sexual content and language. Look for it in theatres on April 5th, 2013.
