Not too long ago we brought along word of a vampire-priest movie called THE REVEREND. Sounding very appealing, and set to star Doug Bradley, we awaited something a little more substantial from the project…
Now that filming is nearly done, the Neil Jones-directed movie has brought in a very exciting final piece to the puzzle: Rutger Hauer! Yes, the man who can currently be seen blasting scum away as a certain hobo with a shotgun has joined THE REVEREND, which certainly helps bring this flick to the forefront of our must see list. Not only that, word has it he’s playing the Big Bad himself: Satan! Who better, right?
The film’s synopsis:
Fresh from seminary school, a new Reverend embarks on his first parish, a small, low maintenance Chapel based in a quiet country village. While on the surface the village seems to be a peaceful parish, with perfect residents, soon it becomes apparent that something more sinister lurks beneath the façade of a local businessman.
On a wet, cold night a mysterious girl visits The Reverend at the chapel.
Cold and upset she is welcomed in warmly, soon it becomes apparent that her visit is not for sanctuary but to deliver a message, a message in the form of a deep, bloody bite…
Awoken with an unknown, uncontrollable thirst a confused Reverend can find no evidence of the girl from the night before, with nothing but the thirst and memory of the bite, The Reverend embarks on his mandate, to clean up the village and the neighbouring estate, by preaching or feasting.
The film also stars Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Emily Booth, Tamer Hassan and Stuart Brennan, who plays The Reverend (and who is pictured below in the first official still from the flick). We’ll keep you in the loop when more info comes in…
