Ryan Reynolds and JoBlo

Our
evil Stepfather site JoBlo.com continues its Blade Trinity

(read my review of the film here)
spiel with an
interview
with the always funny and now PUMPED UP Ryan Reynolds.

Here’s a teaser of the yapping session and click the
bottom link to read the whole thing.

How was it shooting in your hometown (of Vancouver)?

I was a little close to my mother… But
I loved shooting in my hometown.

Did your family come to visit you on set?

Yeah my brothers all came down. I have
three older brothers. They all came down and much like childhood got to see me
getting my ass kicked on a regular basis.

Were you the youngest?

I was the youngest of four.

Did the tables turn when you were all buffed up?

Oh I was like, "Who wants to fuck with
who now?!" My brothers, two of them are cops so no matter what I do… One of
them pepper-sprayed me once (laughs). He did! We had an apartment together right
when he was in the police academy and he took out his pepper spray and
literally, like an idiot without even knowing how it works, just pressed the
button and hit me right in the eye. I was 18 years old and down on the floor
lying in a shallow pool of my own vomit.

Is it hard to make jokes when someone like Triple H is
kicking your ass?

I guess the humor is born of fear. The
guy is a…mountain covered in skin. He’s also just a sweetheart. He’s also a
talented, I think, actor with great timing. So that was fun getting in the ring
with him. But we really wanted to make that fight as raw and brutal as possible.
Initially it was written that we would have sort of a kung-fu style fight, which
is consistent with these sort of movies. We just looked at each other and said,
"We aren’t kung-fu guys." We just wanted to make it look like a bar fight. A
brutal, ugly bar fight.

When your character was bodyslammed, was that actually
you?

(Sigh) I wish I could say it was. That’s
the only moment when it isn’t me. I wasn’t about to have that mountain land on
me.

Did you ever read any of the comics before you began
filming?

My brother was a huge fan actually so he
freaked out when he heard about my character. I had read a few of them when I
was a kid, the "Tomb of Dracula" ones. My brother gave me a shirt on my birthday
when we were shooting BLADE that had Hannibal King kicking Blade’s ass. It was
done in 1976 when I was born so I thought that was a cool gift.

How much did you get to improvise your lines? Is that
where "cock-juggling thundercunt" came from?

(Looks at female reporter and laughs) I
don’t know where that came from. With Parker (Posey) too, I had done a few
scenes with her already and I thought, "Wow, you need to go in there with your
A-game." I remember I sat in there on night and I was thinking, "What is the
worst thing I could say to her? Now I’ve already said she had fangs in her
vagina. So what is the worst thing I could say to Parker Posey?…" And this
character just pops off so I wanted to top her any way I could. When I was a kid
I was part of a group – or NOT part of a group actually. There was a group of
kids school called the "Thundercats" based on the cartoon. It was all the cool
kids that were in the "Thundercats." I didn’t get asked in. I was very upset
about that. So my friend and I used to call them the "Thundercunts." That’s
where that actually came from. Deep from the back of my psyche. The vampires are
also the in-crowd, the cool people. I think it immediately triggered that memory
of the in-crowd not letting me in.
