Ryan Reynolds to star and co-write Netflix comedy Upstate

Ryan Reynolds and Netflix are two delectable flavors that taste great together (like marijuana and chocolate), and now the actor, entrepreneur, and delicious gin mogul is reuniting with John August for a feature comedy destined for the uber-popular streaming platform. The new project is called UPSTATE, which is being developed as a starring vehicle for Reynolds. In addition to his appearing on screen, Reynolds will co-write the film with August, whose writing credits include films like GO, BIG FISH, DARK SHADOWS, Guy Ritchie's ALADDIN, and more!  In fact, August and Reynolds last worked together on 2007's THE NINES, a mystery that found Reynolds starring alongside Melissa McCarthy, Hope Davis, Elle Fanning, and Octavia Spencer.

Unfortunately, the plot for UPSTATE is being kept under wraps at this time, so we'll have to wait for more details. However, we do know that Reynolds and August will act as executive producers, with Reynolds operating through his production company Maximum Effort.

What do you think the plot for UPSTATE will be about? Will Reynolds and August be targeting the rich that have nestled in the mountains of upstate New York? My hope is that this movie sees Reynolds relocating to a posh new area only to be driven insane by the snobbery of it all. This is obviously just a shot in the dark, but I would watch that movie. Stay tuned to find out how wrong I am when the actual plot is revealed!
