S Darko goes viral

Last month I showed you all the trailer for S. DARKO: A DONNIE DARKO TALE. And I thought this was a ROGER RABBIT TALE. Thanks for clearing that up. In all seriousness this movie is really going two
separate ways. Some fans out there are intrigued by the premise and everything else and are actually looking forward to this one. Others are downright outraged and refuse to even consider it.

Now I recently found a VIDEO and before I get into this let me say this video hasn’t been ‘officially’ confirmed as being attached to S. DARKO.
I’M GUESSING!
Today some kind of video from a surveillance camera popped up over on YouTube and we’ve gone ahead and thrown said viral video, titled ‘surveillance070990,’ in our videos section. You can go ahead and scroll down below to check that out.

As you can see the video is really random and pretty twisted. What does it all mean?! Well I’ll share some of the interesting notes I found while doing
some expert researching. First up we’ve got the author of the video: ‘retiredblue.’ Obviously this is in reference to some sort of veteran and it’s also interesting to note that this ‘retiredblue’ just signed up on YouTube yesterday when he put that video up. Next up we have the dates: July 9, 1990 and July 11, 1990. Upon further snooping I realized these dates correspond with a pretty gnarly thing called the Gulf Breeze Six. The Gulf Breeze Six are a group of soldiers who went AWOL in search of UFOs. They were apparently part of a group called ‘The End of the World.’ Well that’s the just of it but to read up more on these guys you can head right over HERE.

And to top it all off we’ve got the lengthy S. DARKO synopsis: Seven years after the tragic death of her brother Donnie, Samantha Darko is still mourning him and the loss of the loving family that fell apart after he died. Her home life in shambles, 18-year-old Sam impulsively decides to join her rebellious best friend Corey on a cross-country drive from Virginia to California in the hope of becoming a professional dancer.

When their car breaks down outside tiny Conejo Springs, Sam and Corey are stranded in the hot and dusty town with little money and no connections as they await the arrival of a new water pump. Wild child Corey quickly finds a friend in Randy Holt, the town bad boy, but Samantha is restless and has no interest in socializing. The morning after the girls arrive, a meteorite destroys a local farmer’s windmill, leaving a huge crater in its wake.

Plagued by weird and prophetic dreams that spill over into her waking life, Samantha searches for some kind of meaning in the people around her. But she finds only the fanatical cliches spouted by Jesus freak Trudy Potter and Pastor John Mellit of the Born Again Church, the heedless partying of Randey and his friends, and the petty suspicions of small town gossips.

Sam and Corey have a bitter falling out that ends in catastrophe. Without realizing it, they become links in an invisible chain that connects them to a missing child, a disturbed Gulf war veteran and a dangerous hole in time and space. Only a sacrifice of the highest order will return the universe to its proper time and place, and the clock is ticking.

That last bit in bold seems to fit pretty well with the rest of this story, no? Well truth be told I don’t care enough about S. DARKO to give any more of this much thought. So I’ll go ahead and leave all of you to piece it together. The flick is directed by Chris Fisher with a script from Nathan Atkins. It stars Jackson Rathbone, Ed Westwick, Elizabeth Berkley, Briana Evigan (below), and Daveigh Chase. Get ready for S. DARKO: A DONNIE DARKO TALE to hit DVD shelves on May 12th.
