Saltburn: Rosamund Pike to star in a new film from Promising Young Woman filmmaker Emerald Fennell

Oscar-winning filmmaker Emerald Fennell is teaming up with Rosamund Pike ( Care A LotGone Girl) for her next feature film. Fennell’s newest project, titled Saltburn, focuses on a grand, aristocratic English family. Filming is due to kick into high gear later this year.

Fennell won a Best Original Screenplay Academy Award for 2020’s Promising Young Woman, which will stay with you long after the closing credits have finished rolling. Honestly, it’s one of the most disturbing films I’ve seen in recent years and makes for one hell of an industry debut. In addition to her Best Original Screenplay win, Fennell was also nominated for Best Director and Best Picture.

Fennell recently joined the cast of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which also stars Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Emma Mackey, Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Kate, and McKinnon. Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ritu Arya, Rhea Perlman, Issa Rae, and Kingsley Ben-Adir also star. Fennell’s role for Barbie has not been revealed at this time.

While Saltburn is shrouded in mystery, I’m excited to learn more about it. As I’d said, Promising Young Woman is one of the most affecting films I’ve seen in ages. Fennell has a knack for making content that clawed its way beneath my skin, and I admire that. I like film experiences that disturb and leave me feeling uneasy. I’m not sure if Saltburn will have the same goal, but I’m willing to find out.
