Sam Worthington knows Clash of the Titans sucks, promises improvement

These folks actually thought the 3D was pretty good…

Sam Worthington, like almost everybody else, thinks the CLASH OF THE TITANS remake blows chunks. Sure, he’s not putting it in such elegant words, but read between the lines in the statements he gave to Moviefone and you’ll see that the man isn’t ignorant.

“I just think we can improve on it… I think the first one, we kind of let down some people. And yeah, I totally agree. The only point of doing a sequel is either the audience demands it or you believe you can better the first one. What we’re setting out to do with this one — the writers and the director and myself — is improve. I think I can act f***ing better, to be honest … Just take all the notes from people that I have been reading about on the ‘net and give them a movie they f***ing want. This one I want to kind of try to satisfy a lot more people.”

Though Worthington doesn’t deserve any accolades for his performance in CLASH, it’s far from the movie’s biggest problem. Rather, the story, pacing, dialogue and thick glaze of cheese that coats the entire production are the main culprits. Give Sam credit though; he’s not delusional.

“I’ve always said you make movies for an audience, that’s who you make movies for,” he said. “If the audience is speaking, it’s like the old gladiator thing, they give us the thumbs up/thumbs down, you want to stay alive in that coliseum as long as you can.”

Worthington has also said in the past that they’ll be shooting in 3D, as he’s also sensitive to the horrid reviews the post-converted 3D the first film received. We’ll ultimately find out if he delivers on his promises in March of 2012, when WRATH OF THE TITANS comes out.
