If only we could have gotten a TERMINATOR television series before TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES was made, we all would have been better off. So with that being said, it brings me great joy to report that the first picture of the Fox television series centered around everyone’s favorite loony, ass-kicking mom Sarah Connor, in the series called THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES has been released. The story of the show would pick up right after the events of TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, and follow the relationship between Sarah and John Connor.
This idea lends itself to the opportunity of breathing some new life into the franchise, and with it comes new actors, as none of the actors portraying any of the roles in the movies will be in the show. The actress filling the void left by Linda Hamilton is actress Lena Heady (pictured), who was last seen in 300, where she played Queen Gorgo. And replacing the squeaky voiced Ed Furlong, and the all too timid Nick Stahl for the role of John Connor, is upstart actor Thomas Dekker.
Josh Friedman, who wrote the Tom Cruise/Steven Spielberg film WAR OF THE WORLDS, will pen the series. Friedman had this to say about THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: “There’s going to be a healthy dose of both (action and family drama). The last thing I want to do is take a title and exploit it. The show needs to stand on its own while still being respectful of the franchise.”
The TERMINATOR franchise, which has made over 1 billion dollars worldwide, has one of the most enduring movie scores in history, but it is unknown as of now if the classic theme will be making it’s return to the small screen.
So here it is, the picture from the upcoming series:
