Satan Panic poster

The long-in-development “killer cult” flick, SATANIC PANIC, has finally been completed (as Jared P. last reported here). Now, with future screenings on their way, we’ve got a brand new poster to ogle (up top).

Not too shabby, if I say so. The guy in the cloak with the mask kind of reminds me of that evil cult leader in DRAGNET (that 80’s Aykroyd/Hanks vehicle—remember that?). Anyways, I believe we have a good shot at some good old bloody, depraved, sexy fun with this particular panicking Satan. Here’s what the flick’s writer/director, Mike Selz, says about it: “SATANIC PANIC is for the hardcore, hard-edge horror fans and is like nothing I have done before. It falls in line with films like THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and WOLF CREEK for its real gritty docu-style feel, as well as TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and FRIDAY THE 13TH for that backwoods-killer-in-the-woods setting. I know it has made me think twice about camping in the middle of the woods. For me, my films go through the times I am in. I thought about what could really scare me now after seeing everything. I am a father and I was doing research on Satanism and cults, and that did it for me.

I like how Mr. Selz thinks. Hopefully PANIC has the goods to give many a genre fan reason to worry about the woods as well. Here’s the quick plot synopsis: A fictional story based on witness accounts that were inspired by the hysteria of satanic ritual abuse which took place during the late ’70s and ’80s.

The flick stars Cyn Dulay, Nikki Taylor Melton, Tim Krueger, James Pusztay, Tom Lodewyck, Dion Strowhorn Sr., Patricia Melone, Steve Christopher, and Kymberly Harris. PANIC will be having screenings on Friday, November 28 at the Westin Chicago North Shore.
