Well either SAW IV is just so outrageously awesome that work must immediately begin on another sequel – excuse me, TWO more sequels – or Lionsgate has unrelenting faith that audiences will continue to robotically turn out for these flicks well until all creative forms of torturous murder have completely run out.
Either way, we’re getting two more SAWS after SAW IV whether we like it or not. David Hackl (pictured above), who has been a production designer and second-unit director on most of the films (and was once rumored to be the director of part IV until Darren Lynn Bousman sat back in the chair) – has signed on to helm V and VI. I guess it doesn’t matter if Hackl does an abominable job on his first entry – he’ll be back for another.
Doesn’t this development sort’ve negate any mystery as to what will happen at the end of IV? Does Jigsaw put his cancer (or whatever his f*ckin illness is) in a head-vice and crush the shit out of it, rejuvenating himself and making the world safe for more “lessons” about how grateful we should be to live on a planet where assholes like him walk around? All signs point to yes! (Unless he passes on his knowledge of rusty, crusty torture devices to another helper.)
