Saw 6 director says

Yes, by now we all know that despite the drop in enjoyment we just experienced with the fifth installment, SAW VI will still be torturing moviegoers next October. And now part six’s director, Kevin Greutert (right, who edited the first five), is already starting to speak on the subject. In a recent interview, he gave a couple of details on the manner with which he is approaching the possible final installment of the franchise. Honestly, I feel that Mr. Greutert should take a look at our own JimmyO’s excellent breakdown of How 2 fix SAW for some perfect pointers. Anyways, this is what Greutert had to say:

“Particularly with the SAW films, as an editor I’m very conscious of not wasting time with shoe leather. I’m always thinking about how to be as economical as possible so we’re not wasting time, and it lets you control the pace much better. It really lets you understand what we don’t need to see and still understand the story.”

Okay, cool, so Greutert understands what we don’t need like: predictable endings, characters explaining things to themselves, and recycling scenarios from the previous films. Stuff like that? I hope so. Mr. Greutert also said something funny about wishing time travel technology was around so he could bring back Amanda. If I could go back in time, I’d rewrite SAW V, but oh well.

Greutert went on to say that he still doesn’t know what SAW VI will be about, but mentioned that there are hundreds of pages of possibilities, which Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are sifting through now to come up with a good script. Sift hard Mr. Dunstan and Mr. Melton!
