Scarlett Johansson will portray Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho

For some reason there are two films on the way about the behind the scenes events of Alfred Hitchcock films.

One being called THE GIRL from director Julian Jarrold, which tells the story of the making of THE BIRDS, and Hitchcock’s relationship with the films star Tippi Hedren. Toby Jones will portray Hitchcock with Sienna Miller as Tippi Hedren. The other film in the works is ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO, which if you can’t tell is about the making of PSYCHO!

This is the film at attention today because Scarlett Johansson is set to portray Janet Leigh! Not sure I can see the resemblance, but I am sure she will do a fine job. And I am sure we’re all hoping to see some nice shots of her in the shower … you know, it is like one of cinema’s most famous scenes and all …

The film also has Anthony Hopkins on board to play Alfred Hitchcock, Helen Mirren to play his wife Alma and James D’Arcy will play Anthony Perkins. I think I like the sound of this film better, not too sure on Hopkins as Hitchcock as I think the other film has the edge there with Toby Jones. But the rest of the cast sounds good, and again ScarJo + shower scenes = YES!

The plot will go something like this: A gripping behind-the-scenes look inside the classic suspense shocker-and the creative genius who revolutionized filmmaking. First released in June 1960, Psycho altered the landscape of horror films forever. But just as compelling as the movie itself is the story behind it.

Stephen Rebello brings to life the creation of one of Hollywood’s most iconic films from the story of Wisconsin murderer Ed Gein the real-life inspiration for the character of Norman Bates to Hitchcock’s groundbreaking achievements in cinematography sound editing and promotion. Packed with captivating insights from the film’s stars, writers, and crew members, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho is a riveting and definitive history of a signature Hitchcock cinematic masterpiece.
